The horror in Gaza has vamped up to unthinkable levels once more. It was important for us to find a cause that is still able to support Palestinians despite the Israeli government yet again blocking all aid entering Gaza, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. Despite this latest genocidal act, Medicos Sin Fronteras are still on the ground and providing vital, life-saving relief. Here are some examples of their work during 1 night alone, a night where the Israeli army launched 100 simultaneous airstrikes at 2am:
During that night of March 18, teams responded to the influx of patients in southern and central Gaza.
- At Nasser Hospital, they received 55 dead and 113 wounded.
- In Deir al Balah, their hospital received 10 wounded, and Al Aqsa Hospital received 20 dead and 68 wounded in the emergency room.
- At the Attar clinic in Al Mawasi , southern Gaza, their team received 26 wounded patients, three of them in critical condition, who were then transferred to Nasser Hospital. The clinic was also hit by shrapnel, but their teams were not injured.
Medical aid is absolutely essential for Gazans right now. Here are some stats to show just how vital this aid is:
- In the past 15 months, at least 110,265 people have been injured in Gaza as a result of the war. That’s one in 20 people.
- The death toll officially is above 48,405, which includes over 18,000 children. The death toll means that one out of every 50 people has been killed in Gaza. This figure includes 166 journalists and media workers and over 224 humanitarian aid workers.
- Scholars have estimated 80% of Palestinians killed are civilians, a count that does not include those who have died from "preventable disease, malnutrition and other consequences of the war". An analysis by the Gaza Health Projections Working Group predicted many, many more thousands of additional deaths from disease and birth complications. In January 2025, a peer-reviewed analysis estimated figures exceeding 70,000 people, with 59.1% of them being women, children and the elderly.
- Currently, over 90% of children under five are affected by at least one infectious disease.
- According to UNRWA, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees, every day 10 children lose one or both legs with operations and amputations conducted with little or no anaesthesia due to Israel’s blockade.
The relief provided by Medicos Sin Fronteras could not be more critical, but they can’t do it without our help. Let's band together and show our support.
