We knew we could rely on this beautiful community that we have built over the last 10 years. But you never cease to amaze us!
In less than 2 weeks we have met the challenge and we can't thank you enough for the support, trust, drive and solidarity you show every time we ask for your help.
Thank you for showing us, once again, that we are not alone in this. That there are so many of you who share this dream of bringing education and opportunities for improvement to such seemingly distant places.

The new school year starts in January and the budget for the Humanitas school in Kibera in 2024 exceeds €50,000, as the purchase of a new plot of land for the next phase of construction of what will be the new secondary school (we will keep you informed) is contemplated.
Below is a breakdown of some of the expenses that KUBUKA is committed to cover, in case you can help us:
1. Activities related to improving the health and nutrition of the children (more complete breakfasts, updating the first aid kit and medical check-ups): €3,813
2. Improvement of furniture and study material (textbooks, updating of the library and new desks): €3,690
3. Training of local staff: €522
4. Maintenance costs (office supplies, transport, electricity, water, insurance, etc.): €3,112

ABOUT #RENOVATEHUMANITAS CHALLENGE
Remember when we shared with you our dream of opening a school in Kibera?
8 years ago we rented a mud house and with the hard work and generosity of Humanitas Tres Cantos and so many people, "Grace Humanitas Educational Centre" was born.
Because the most important thing for a school is to have children eager to learn, to win the world! And we have always had that. Joy, energy and commitment have not been lacking along the way.
Then, in 2018, we had another dream and we shared it too!
"Humanitas" needed its own space and together we put up a building that today hosts 350 students aged between 3 and 15 years old. A place to grow, play, learn and keep on laughing!
And you know what, we have continued to dream! We want the school to accommodate more and more children who can study despite their fragile background.
But in order to have a future to share with you, we need to make some renovations that will allow us to continue next year.
KUBUKA would not be 10 years old if it wasn't for you. Shall we continue?
BREAKDOWN OF THE NECESSARY RENOVATIONS AND BUDGET
- Insulation panels separating classrooms: 943,2€
- Renovation of bathrooms: 1.381,6€
- Floor tiling: 4.349,4€
- Storage furniture in classrooms and kitchen: 1.253,5€
- Labour, transport costs and contingencies: 2.072,2€
TOTAL BUDGETED: 10.000€
We have come a long way to ensure that children in Kibera with fewer resources can access quality education in their own neighbourhood.
Whenever we have encountered difficulties in making this dream come true, you have always been there to do your bit, and thanks to you, today Humanitas School in Kibera (Nairobi, Kenya) is a reality.
We have a challenge ahead of us: to ensure that the current facilities meet the health and safety requirements set by the public administration and competent authorities.
We also have a deadline to achieve this: before the end of the year. Only then will we be able to open the school doors for the new school year starting in January 2024.
We cannot give up now. We know that together we will succeed. We always have.
KUBUKA nace en el año 2013 con el objetivo de ayudar a las comunidades de personas con alta vulnerabilidad a ser autosostenibles mediante el desarrollo de la educación y el emprendimiento.
Para ello, despliega su labor a través de un colegio, varios programas de becas educativas, dos casas de acogida, un proyecto deportivo y un programa de concesión de microcréditos para potenciar el emprendimiento local.
Sus principales beneficiarios son niños, niñas, jóvenes y mujeres, ya que son los colectivos que mayor riesgo de exclusión social y vulnerabilidad tienen en los países donde coopera (Kenia y Zambia)
Su forma de trabajar está basada en el empoderamiento de las partes locales para que sean ellas mismas las que consigan su propio desarrollo.
Fruto de este enfoque y labor, anualmente beneficia a más de 1500 personas para que puedan disfrutar de un futuro mejor.
